Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fouiero, like, really, freeware?
Yah.

System requirements?
Tested on Windows XP. Probably won't work on non-Windows systems.

How was it programmed?
With Microsoft Visual C++ and freeglut, and a random number generator library by Agner Fog. No other nonstandard networking/game engine packages were used.

How long did development take?
Just under a fortnight, from blank .cpp file to beta release.

What ip do I use to host/join a game?
If you aren't behind a router (a rare breed nowadays), the IP from WhatismyIP.com should suffice. Otherwise, you may be out of luck. Hamachi may be the most foolproof way to set up a direct connection in this case.

You may try using 127.0.0.1 to host and join games on a single machine for starters too.

What ports does Fouiero use?
As the server, UDP port 14040.
As a client, UDP port 14041.
Users with firewalls/routers may need to twiddle with their settings. Portforward.com may be helpful.

Fouiero is so jerky!
Well, the nature of the game means that a fast, clean connection is critical, and anything above a 20-30ms ping may be difficult to handle. Best played on a LAN, I suppose.

Are different versions compatible?
In general, they won't be.

Hey, why doesn't Fouiero have <some common feature>?
Options to set stick-figure color/adjust reloading speeds/load-save maps/chat in the gameroom/quickhide the game from bosses will come later - this is only a pre-pre-pre-beta version. Be patient.

Fouiero crashed my computer, burnt out my graphics card, wiped my hard disk, got me fired from work and scared my bunny!
Sorry, no refunds.
